Homework #4 Artwork Choice

This was a really interest piece to fond because it experiments with texture and medium. The table top appears to show tactile texture since the artists has created a representation of wood grain. Tromp L’oile is also with this piece because at first glance at the table it only appears to be a smooth surface until seen up close. Since the wood grain varies or looks the same, it contains a sense of patterns because of the lines formations. The second picture on the bottom contains mixed-media since the bottom uses wood for the base of the table while the top uses acrylic. I believe that this table’s surface would be good for using it for frottage because of its textured surface. The table would also appear to have visual texture but since the object is three dimensional, it can actually be felt.
Japanese design studio Nendo installed their pieces, title “textured transparencies”, in Galleria Jannone during fashion week 2011. Their collection of pieces mostly included tables and lights which explored different levels of transparency. Each of the pieces where created from different materials to show new and different visual functions in furniture.
